ConsumerReportsHealth.org rates health-related products based on our expert, in-depth testing.

How we tested the wrinkle creams...

Along with our French consumer advocate counterparts, ConsumerReportsHealth.org chose 204 women between the ages of 30 and 70 to test each wrinkle cream. Dermatologic lab technicians evaluated each woman in person. The participants were asked to give their opinions about the following issues:
  • Effectiveness
  • Odor
  • Cosmetic acceptability
  • Side effects( such as irritation or redness)

We then evaluated 1,224 photographs of the 204 women for our survey to see what improvement (if any) was visible. When we combined the overall results of all our tests, the products ended up grouped into three categories:
  • Slightly more effective
  • Average performance
  • Slightly less effective
